FAQs

1. What counts as “screen time” for the Life Path Track?

Life Path measures all screen use that pulls you out of real life, including:

  • Videos

  • Games

  • News

  • Scrolling

  • Shopping apps

  • Social media

  • WhatsApp Status/Updates

Full sports games do not count — watching a full game is considered long-form entertainment.
Sports highlights do count, because they function like short-form, high-dopamine clips.
NFL RedZone counts since it is rapid-fire, highlight-style viewing.

2. What counts for the Brain Reset Track?

Brain Reset tracks only the most addictive screen behaviors, including:

  • Scrolling (news, social, updates, feeds)

  • Short-form videos (Reels, Shorts, TikTok-style edits)

  • Phone games

  • Sports highlights

  • NFL RedZone

Full sports games do NOT count here either — only the quick-hit, dopamine-heavy content.

3. What screen use does not count at all?

The following are fully allowed on both tracks:

  • Communication: texting, WhatsApp chats, calls, FaceTime

  • Long-form videos or shows at 1x speed

  • Full sports games

  • Torah videos

  • Skill-building YouTube videos on a computer (not compilations)

  • Music and podcasts

4. What if I use my phone for schoolwork or responsibilities?

Schoolwork, homework, note-taking, email, or tasks related to class do not count.
Only entertainment or addictive consumption counts toward points.

5. How are points calculated?

Each track has its own point system:

Life Path:

  • 0 minutes = 500 points

  • 300 minutes (5 hours) = 201 points

  • Students lose approximately 1 point per minute

  • Once 300 total minutes are reached, the score maxes out at 201

Brain Reset:

  • 0 minutes = 200 points

  • 140 minutes = 100 points

  • Students lose approximately 0.7 points per minute

  • Once 140 minutes are reached, the score maxes out at 100

Weekly score = Life Path points + Brain Reset points

6. Why are there two tracks?

Because not all screen time is equal.

  • Life Path encourages reducing overall dependency on screens.

  • Brain Reset focuses on cutting back the most attention-draining, addictive behaviors.

Together, they build healthier, calmer, more deliberate tech habits.

7. What if I go over the weekly max?

Time beyond the max does not decrease points further.

  • Life Path max: 5 hours / 300 minutes → 201 points

  • Brain Reset max: 140 minutes → 100 points

Once a student hits the max time, the score stays at the minimum and cannot go lower.

8. Are students supposed to avoid screens completely?

No.
The goal is control, not perfection.
Students can use devices — they simply earn more points by using them mindfully and avoiding addictive content.

9. How do students track their time?

Students log their screen time through the program’s reporting tools.
They can view their weekly totals, point scores, and growth trends.
